Ventured to Malibu Creek SP and found Bass, Bluegill, and Carp swimming around. Word has it Steelhead are also in the area. Checked out Century Lake, a nice two plus acre lake about 1.5 to 2 miles from the parking lot. It looks good for float tubing, but pack light as there's a hefty hill to climb to get there.

My 2 1/2 year old son caught his first fish (a Bluegill)in one of the pools. I caught three more bluegills and a small bass.

It was a fun little trip. I think my next place I'd want to look at is Tapia. It's a little further downstream but you never know!

The Steelhead there are about 20 miles or so down stream , towards the beach . There are only around 20 - 30 fish that make Malibu creek there home . I think they are completely off limits now , due to there endangered status. I read in WON that they used to be c&r , but that was years ago . They were once thought to be the most southern run of Steelhead. That was until they caught one in a creek on that Marine base by San Diego .

Peace,
