Anybody out there know what's up with the stone? I haven't
had a bite anywhere on that lake. I know the waters up, was
told the spawn was decimated by rain, but the
"hunks" got to be somewhere. I'd be in debt to
anyone who could offer some advice on where on the lake and
what to use;

frustrating;

It's about that time when the bluegill begin their spawn which
is ussually a good indication that post spawn is setting in.
That is when it's a good time to go fish another lake that is
still spawning. Give it about two weeks (New moon) and try it
again. The bass should be recovered from the spawn by then.
They should also be hungry and willing to bite. When the
revovery period of post spawn comes to an end my favorite part
of the season begins. Look for the fish to move shallow to
feed early and late in the day as weather heats up. It's time
to break out the jerk baits and topwater. Good luck. See you
guys on the water.

JerryG;

Thanks for the reply; I fish "Pudd" often because
it's close to home. Haven't been able to catch a cold lately.
You sound like you're pretty experienced; Is is true that the
high water "killed" the spawn? From shore, where do
you recommend parking/walking to where you've had success;

Thanks,

I just returned from fishing Pudd and I can confirm that the
bass have definitely moved in to the recovery period of post
spawn. Fishing is slow but catches are possible. I fished with
some friends for three hours. I got bit once and the fish spit
my senko instantly. One of my friends caught about a 2lb fish
on a senko. I spoke with another friend who was there and he
was also fishing senkos. He managed to catch two bass in the
2lb range (all fish released). It's going to be tough for a
couple weeks. There are some fish which have already recovered
and possibly some finishing up their spawning. I believe the
vast majority are in recovery.

I don't think the raise in the water hurt the spawn in the
least bit. If anything the spawn benifited from it. It might
have made it harder to spot bedding fish from shore but it
also might have taken some pressure off the fish and allowed
them to spawn in peace. In the long run that may prove to be
much more of a benifit than a loss to shore fisherman and boat
Anglers.
