Summary: The red tide is clearing up some with little seaweed. I was using plastic grubs on caroline rig. Eggsinker weight was 3/4 oz with 6lb main line and 6lb test on leader. Hook size was #8. Grubs were Motor Oil/red flake and clear and Red Flake. Most Barred Perch came off of motor oil/red flake. Also, use herring scent on grubs. Sizes of perch were 8", 7 1/2", 7" and smallier. I must say the beach is so relaxing. There guys there that had nice size yellowfin Croaker from Sand crabs. My self went ligth with 7' light action rod. Next time will bring long rod. Most important I am learning more about power plant surf zones and the way tide move sand to locate fish better. That all for now. Happy Fishing!!!

Thanks BB, I've fished there many times many years ago. Use to catch alot of Yellowfin coakers and shovelnose sharks. My dad back in 1965 caught a 10lb. striper about 200 yards north of the power plant.

WOW! at the power plant? I've personally have never seen a halibut caught on 5Th street. I know further down by the Rudder room people have caught halibut and sandbass at times, maybe a short white seabass. 5th street on north to the power plant, like I said, I've never seen one caught. I wish I could go fishing this sat to meet you, maybe next time. Going camping for 10 days so I'll be away. Good luck on that halibut, I hope you get one. Hey........wait a minute! maybe I can talk my wife into camping at Mcgrath campground? Yeah right! ooh well, just a thought.
