#4835, "Alamitos Bay tubing 2/16"

Since the baytubers tournament was cancelled i was able to sleep in a bit longer. Started the day(8:00am)buying some ghost shrimp at Big Fish then going to seal beach pier to make some of my own live bait. I noticed that in the inshore area some guys had a few nice sized yellowfin croaker and making bait at the end of the pier was easy. At first I was going to fish belmont shore but I remember Ed saying that there were leaves and stuff on the bottom so I launched from the beach at 55th Pl(9:30). My first live smelt in the water got me a short 17in halibut right away. After that it was alittle slow, so I tried the ghost shrimp and caught a couple of small diamond turbot. I saw some birds diving for baitfish so I switched rods again and tossed out a smelt, and again I got bit right away, another short 17in halibut. Then it was slow again, drifted for about 25minutes after the last fish and I hooked up into a 18in fish. Drifed back to the small beach with only a few more pickups and drops. It was good getting out but my 1pm it was getting cold. So I went to Belmont pier and jigged up some large size Sardines for sharkbait in the future.
