Edit for pics & more info

Spent a pleasant morning on the Stardust 1/2 day. Met up with Eric aka Mr. Tree who happened to be on the boat :) We fished around the 4 mile for rockfish for the morning. It was a pick bite but captain Jason just has a knack for making something out of what seems like not much. For 20 or so fisherman we did a little over 100 rockfish, mostly reds, starries and a few browns, boccacio etc.

Eric won the jackpot with a nice barracuda that must have been lost in 150 feet of water. It ate one of his baits on the sink with a 4oz sinker lol. One other cuda was hooked by another angler on a big hammer but it broke him off. Got an awesome display from the porpoise who were running bait. There were around 100 porpose all in a row, jumping nearly in unison herding the bait. They ran about 150 yards off the bow, pretty cool.

We had one very interesting passenger, who like Eric mentions below, brought his own net. Definitely the first time I've ever seen someone bring their own net on a party boat, it was pretty cool :) I think the funniest thing he said was something like, "I'm going to put one of these sardines on and I'm gonna put the other one in my pocket for later" I have no idea what was going on there :D

Here's Eric's jackpot barracuda

It was fun running into you Rob. Have you figured out how to download the pics off of your new phone yet? LOL Would be nice to see them if you get around to it.

Funny catching a freak barrie on a 4 oz. lead with dropper loops in 140 feet of water. This phenomeneon happened to me once in Oxnard, also resulting in a jackpot - go figure.

What Rob didn't mention about this trip was that we had to go back to the dock after baiting up in order to pick up a couple of stragglers One of the stragglers happened to bring his own full-size salmon net. "Don't be that guy" LOL

I'm still amazed how the Stardust can perfectly time your meals. I always seem to get my hot breakfast burrito or cheeseburger delivered to me on the rail while in transit to another spot.... that is awesome service... no fishing time lost!

The Stardust is well south of you in Santa Barbara. It operates out of Sea Landing.

Here is the web site:

Darius,

It is a bit of a haul from the Bay to Santa Barbara (300 miles). I have family down there so I head down every couple months or so. If you do find yourself down South and want to go on the boat, here is their website, www.stardustsportfishing.com where you can get more info.
