i've been going to Cabrillo since i was a kid and i always see people fishing off the pier and they usaully have a fish or two in thier buckets. So i was thinking about going to cabrillo this weekend and i was wondering what should i fish for and what setup to use. I dont really have any heavy line on my poles so i was thinking about surf fishing and wich side i should fish on and were.

To tell you the truth, It looks like the surf anglers and pier guys are not catching anything but sharks and a few Sand Bass. IF you fish with a float tube your going to have a lot more fun catching a lot more fish! White Seabass, Halibuts, Barracudas, Sand Bass, Calicos, Leapord Sharks and Giant Squids are all being caught in the tubes overthere.
