Last summer, I picked up a St Croix WS86MF2, 8'6" 2 pc, 8-12 lb line, it detects the lightest perch nibble, casts 3" swimbaits and stick baits well, and did pretty well against a 10lb striper!
got it for $120 and love it!

Fenwick's steelhead rods are great for light weight perching outfits. I have an 8'6" casting model. Been using it for years.

Edgar,

I own three Fenwick Cross Scrim Graphite Salmon/Steelhead Rods and really dig all of them.

My favorite is the 8'6". I have that married to a Shimano 2000 Symetre with 4lb test. You can pick that rod up for under 100 clams. The spinning model # is HMXS 86-2. The specs are: 3/16-1/2 oz lure 4-15# line. Its two piece. The best Perchin rod I've ever owned. I've landed some pretty sweet Corbina on it as well.

Hey Ed, whats goin on !

Edgar, Wendel has the spinning versions of mine.

Hey Wendel, things are going well. Perched for the first time in ages last weekend. But it was only for like 45min. on a cruddy beach. We'll have to hit Bucaneer together, how's it been down there?

Once again I can't thank you guys enough, and I look forward in buying these models.Just one last question and that is how well does fenwicks 8'6" hold up to throwing 3" swim baits off of the surf. And how fast is it's hook setting action.
I love this web site, and look forward to posting experiences
with my new rods.
Thanks agian
