Went fishin on the Stardust 10-3 run by myself on Tuesday. We started on the one mile and there was some good sign but the bite never really got going. Some 'cuda and calico were brought in mostly on bait. I hooked one pretty good cuda on the A1 but lost it coming over the rail. Bye bye jackpot. A harbor seal moved in so we ran down south to the horseshoe kelp. Right away there were fish coming over the rail. Little bit of everything, calico, sandbass, cuda, and even a couple short white sea bass. Fishing the straight flyline I hooked a small cuda in the belly and after an interesting fight tried to shake it off at the boat only to break the tip out of my Sabre 196-9. That sucked. Lots of small calico here, I caught 3 dinks. The wouldn't eat plastic so I had to fish bait. After a little sample there we went to the horseshoe rock which actually bit pretty good. I was in some kind of slump because first timers were bringing in the bass pretty good and I wasn't doing diddly. They just wouldn't bite the jig. Overall a pretty good trip but not for me.
Note to self. Never use trilene big game. I don't care how many people tell me this is good line, it breaks waay too easy. Triple fish forever.

Rob,
Once again I must thank you for turning me on to Triple Fish - I love it. Just curious - where do you get yours? I've been getting it from Bass Pro Shops.
Pete
You can't catch tomorrow what you kill today - please practice catch and release.

I get mine from Bass Pro. I bought some from Harbor tackle last weekend, they only had a little bit and it was the old label but I'm sure it will be fine. Every once in a while I try other lines (p-line, big game, stren, ande, izor etc) and I am always disappointed. Triple fish just doesn't break, it's that simple.

Harbor Tackle doesn't have much because at the end of last year I bought a spool of every size from 6 - 20 lb. after you suggested it. I recently filled my 12 lb. reel (the one I use for swimbaits) with 12 lb. Maxima and don't really like it. It's a lot thicker than the Triple Fish and a lot stiffer and more difficult to deal with. I hate to waste it but I'm considering re-filling the reel already with Triple Fish. I usually use Maxima on my larger set-ups for tuna and yellowtail (25 - 60 lb.) but may try some heavier Triple Fish this year.
Pete
You can't catch tomorrow what you kill today - please practice catch and release.
