#3825, "Any Surfers On This Board???"

Besides Bassnet and Remington?? When I'm not hunting corbina, I like to surf. Here is a picture at a secret spot a while back that rarely breaks. It was a fun, glassy day! If there are any other surfers on this board, post a pic here...I would like to see it! Or post a picture of one of your other favorite hobbies!

Just got back from sands. It was ok but got blown out around 11.
What breaks do you surf?

I'm just taking an educated guess. That secret spot looks like the very edge of Huntington Cliffs to me.

I surf when time and body allow. I have a bad back and bad knees so it's hard to decide how much pain a sessions worth. I now live in Vista, but I've always liked to surf down here, along with O.C. where I'm from. Terry, I think your wrong on your guess. Looks like K.D. or H's (sorry they are supposed to be secret) to me.

not KD, maybe the spot Remmington coined way back in the day, looks like White Man's on a bad day- not sure if those are the right rocks or not- Anyway, kudos to Kelly for naming the best right barrel in OC-
I don't care where you have traveled, Whities when it's on is THE best tube in OC- hands down.

Ed, what's up? H only breaks when it is macking, at least a solid 8' NW, that is a sick wave, funny how that little two mile stretch of crowded poo can turn on when conditions are right- Remember Jack Denny and CB getting slotted at H on said day, film was on a good ...lost flick, surfed Remington's that day sick, 100 yard roping rights past the bathroom, all the pros left whities alone to get filmed at the big H. Don't forget the point at Strands on a good 180 hurricane, sickest left in the land!! (Besides 18th street, Newps!)

Yeah I know H's was a big stretch, but you never know. There's some spots that break at freak angles only handfulls of times a decade. Whiteman's hadn't occured to me, not exactly secret though. Might try to surf this week. Maybe the knees will hold up and I can go regularly again, though it's doubtful.

Did your girlfriend ever move down here. I found a couple lakes we can hit. Steve will also have molds for freaks very soon.

Chris, I have not heard of "White Man's" before, but I'm assuming it is the inside section (slightly south) of H's where this photo was taken about 5 years ago on a 3 to 5' winter swell. You are right though that H's needs a huge NW winter swell to really fire well...like the last El-Nino!! This day was smaller, but glassy with the right swell direction which made it fun! You could see a few guys outside waiting for (very inconsistent) sets...the inside section was the place to be this day. Unfortunately H's is not very secret anymore and very fickle, but on its day...can be the best!!!

I used to live in OC years ago and then moved to Oxnard in 1990. Most of my family still lives behind the Orange curtain. I was addicted to surfing big time...5+ days a week mostly at Lowers or 54th street. I still surf today but not as much...I'm more into fishing now and only go surfing when the points up here are firing.

Some old photo's you probably saw already.

I just got a scanner so I put my pic on moment of fame and saw yours as well...awesome pics...those waves are fast and juicy! Mine was actually taken by a buddy with a cheapie instamatic camera (set on telephoto) from the beach. I always wanted some "barrel" pics like in the mags, but it is hard to get good quality pics with those throw away waterproof cameras. I have taken some "thrashings" years ago trying to get some good pics(they werent very good), and am hesitant to do that anymore for the sake of a picture, but if conditions are right...who knows...I may just try it again!!
