#7100, "What kind of grease for spining reel drags?"

I have read on other boards about greasing the drags on spinning reels. Shimano lube was recommended to me, but are there other things that cam be used if I can't find the Shimano stuff? I use Shimano spinners in the surf and want to keep them in good working order. Any Suggestions?

dont quote me on this for I'm no expert but I've used regular reel oil, sewing machine oil and an assorment of good quality greases / oils with no problems as long as the lubricant is strong enough to withstand decomposing in the brine.

that has only been tests on my surf reels (sedona 500 / 100)
lord knows I wouldnt risk trying that on my big guns.

Thanks for the info,
I have a supply of Lubriplate and also Tri-Flow. Wonder if one or both of these would work? I'm using Sedona 4000 and 2000 reels, not really anything to brag about, so what's the worst that can happen? Think I'll give them a try.

ive used tri-flow with good results. stay away from lubriplate, it falls appart fast on that application. plus if it gets close to sand.....
