Does anyone have information about a boat launch by hoist on a pier in a small cove off a public golf course in Pebble Beach? I heard about this but I do not know the name of the cove or the days and hours when the hoist operator is on duty. The cove area could be interesting for halibut (white seabass?), and there could be prime lingcod reefs and rocks very close in. Thanks. Bob

Actually there is a small pier with launching facility’s (hoist) at “Still Water Cove” next to the beach club. I have launch my Mercury sail boat there many times. Unfortunately I always launched during a scheduled regatta, and don’t know who to contact. If you just wanted to “go fishing” one thing to remember is the parking by the pier is free, Public access is pretty cool. The place looks very fishy.good luck.
Try searching the web for, Still Water Cove or Mercury sail boat or Monterey yacht club.
A neat story about that pier; The last time it was destroyed by storms, there wasn’t enough money to rebuild it so that was going to be the end of Sailing small boats at Still Water… Along came Mimi Jenkins a widow who sailed Mercury’s with her husband in the fifties. She paid for the complete pier with the stipulation that Mercury Sailboats could use the pier forever. She was still alive in the early ninety’s and would host cocktail parties right across the fairway from the pier at her estate, Great fun! When she died, the Pebble Beach Company bought the property from her heirs, and are developing it. I had heard they were planning to make the original structure (A hunting lodge) into a snack bar.
OK sorry for rambling…back to your regular Fishing program
