Start here!
http://www.calfishing.com/freshwater/big_wood/index.html
I've only been throwing the big baits for a short time now. I've owned some for about 1 1/2 years, but I've really been throwing them for about 6 months. I throw the big baits on EVERY trip! I've caught a few fish, but nothing worth bragging about. ;)
All of the info from this site has helped tremendously!! But, I've learned things that you just can't read about by throwing the baits over and over. I've learned that there is one body of water I fish that any topwater bite completely shuts off when the wind blows. But I've caught fish under the surface on big rubber baits there when the wind is blowing.
Only you can put all the elements together, but you just have to start throwing them. If you would throw a topwater, spinnerbait or crank, throw a trout plug instead. If you would throw a big worm or jig, try a sinking swimbait. The first thing you have to do is get comfortable with each lure by knowing what it can do and where. Then you can concentrate on catching fish. Once you do, even if it's a small one, your confidence will increase ten fold!
