Sometimes the answer is soo obvious that you are embarrassed when you figure it out.

I bought this butane torch the other day. Its awesome for fixing soft swimbaits. I can fix 10 baits now in the time it took me to fix one. No more burning your hand over the stove, no more waiting forever for a lighter to heat the nail. Also, the torch doesnt turn your bait black, and it heats a nail in like 5 seconds. The nail stays much hotter much longer so you have lots of time to take your time and make a perfect fix.

I didn't know you could repair baits with pumpkin seeds, a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and a torch :7

I think I found someone that owns more hudds than I do.

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and find that my swimbaits have pumpkinseeds imbedded in them and I cant figure out why}(

Then I think, hmmm, maybe its that little brown bottle. Oh well, pumpkinseed is a universal good color right?:P

oh dang... I guess I've been playing with my barbies too much lately :9 If my image has been tarnished by using the spinning rod and plunking the occasional senko, I can hang lol.

I had a chance to fish with Rod Thigpin recently. Rod makes the Stocker Trout for you guys who don't know. I was impressed when he whipped out a miniature blowtorch to repair his bait on the water. Then I come home and see this thread, too funny.

Super glue gel works well in places where you don't have to insert the hook. For the places where you do need to insert the hook, pouring some plastic in the torn up spot can help, or the blowtorch as Urban is suggesting. I'd get one... but I'd probably burn myself. I figure it's better to glue my fingers together than burn them off :)

As long as you stay away from the little brown bottle, you will not burn your fingers.

As you said, glue works ok in places where you are not inserting hooks. But Ive found that through time, the glue will sorta separate itself from the plastic. Glue stinks, melting is the ticket.

When the belly of my Hudds gets torn up sometimes I will melt white lizards in the microwave and pour it into the belly. It works real good and gives the treble a lot more to grab on to. I might have to try the melt method though...

I thought you were going to say "Prosoft Glue" when I read the title. I understand the 'heat' part but what is the nail for?

Hey Dan, glue is ok, but actually I hate it. Get some pliers then get a smaller nail. Hold the nail in the pliers, then heat the nail in the torch. Then you melt the bait using the nail, and squeeze the tear together while the plastic is still melted. Bing, your bait is as good as new. You can open up a tear with your fingers, and with the nail melt the entire lining of the inside of the tear. When you press it together and hold it, once it "dries", your tear is perfectly fixed. Its much better than glue. Hope that makes sense.

Also, if you are into magnets, you take the nail head and burn a perfect size chamber for your magic little magnets.

I do the same but use a paper clip w/masking tape on the end to keep the fingers cool.

soft bait glue is basically the same as super glue only you pay $10 a bottle. what a joke
