#2233, "Slammer sizes and colors?"

You can never have enough trout plugs and I hear the slammer is quite a performer. I will mostly fish Irvine and Perris and was wondering if I should go with a 7 or 9 inch and light or dark rainbow? The two lakes are completely different in water color--Irvine is stained to murky, Perris is stained clear to clear (but not gin clear like mead). What color/size combo works the best all around? Thanks.

Definitely 9" over 7". As for color, I think most people seem to like the dark rainbow. I know my favorite slammer is in dark rainbow, but I don't know how much of that has to do with color.

I have to agree with Brian(#?)on this one.I prefer the 9 inch plug but have had my best success with the light trout.

I believe it's the action over color that's the biggest factor.

My confidence Slammer is the 9 inch light trout. The 12 inch is good, but a tough lure to build confidence with and I've only personally caught one fish on it.
