Rolled by El Porto Saturday morning, waves were looking good. I was thinking "dam, shoulda brought the board". Too crowded to fish so I went to El Segundo beach on the advice of a friend (about a mile north of Manhattan beach).
Fished from 7:00am to 9:00 am. Oh man, after getting skunked the last few times out....I finally scored. My 2" motor oil red flake grub landed a dinky BSP about 5" and I was stoked. Then another. Both released. Then, of all things, I scored a 19'CORBINA on a grub laced with pro-cure. I know almost everyone on this site encourages the release of such a prized fish but, man, I haven't eaten fish in over three months. I didn't see any sandcrabs in the sand but, when I was cleaning the fish the stomach was filled with sandcrabs. The BSP were caught on a slow retrieve and the CORB was caught while my grub was sitting in a hole. My dinner was killer. Fish filet dipped in flour, egg, panko (Japanese bread crumb) and then fried to a golden brown.
Its funny how when you catch something you have a lot to say.
